Project AI-Lab Lübeck

Within the scope of the project "AI-LAB Lübeck" a new AI laboratory is being built on the campus. The goal is to provide an even more powerful environment for research with AI algorithms. With the help of machine learning, IT systems will be enabled to recognize patterns and regularities on the basis of existing data sets and algorithms and to develop solutions for various problems. Teaching will also benefit from the new AI focus: In a two-year pilot phase, an extra-occupational, English-language master's degree program in Artificial Intelligence is planned at the University of Lübeck from winter semester 2020/2021. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 2019-2022.

The Institute of Medical Informatics is actively involved as a project partner and participates in the development of the AI infrastructure for intelligent image analysis and in the exemplary implementation of use cases, e.g. for deep learning-based analysis of OCT images of the eye (OCT: Optical Coherence Tomography). Furthermore, the institute is involved in the establishment of the new, part-time master's program in Artificial Intelligence.
